Wine bars & pubs

For each of the pubs listed below, clicking on the name will pop up a map showing you where they're located.

La Tireuse is one of my favorite bars. It has an incredibly large selection of on tap Belgian beers, served in a cosy atmosphere. Opens at 5 o'clock every afternoon and closes late.

Au Père Louis
. No visit to Toulouse would be complete without a pre-dinner drink in Toulouse's oldest wine bar.

Le J'go. This is also featured in the restaurant article. Their wine bar is worth a visit, if only for the bull fighting decorations, a sport which is still alive and well during the férias of the South West.

De Danú is the famous Trevor Brennan owned Irish bar. For the rugby fans amongst you, they'll be showing the Heineken cup final on the big screen the day after the wedding. They also do a very decent full breaky, with real Clonakilty black pud.

The Killarney, this is a great Irish bar, and Rodger's wife cooks arguably the best irish stew in France. They'll have the H-Cup final on as well (Rodger's a Leinster man ;o)

Le Filochard (previously mispelt (spelling as I'm sure you've noticed was never my strong point) and corrected thanks to Hpif - see commentaire - to the right is a photo of the three characters from the comic book that he talks about, fairly sums up the clientel eyepatch and all) Noisy & smokey, but almost gauranteed free sunsets every evening.

La Cale Seche literally means "dry docks" in French - looks like a boat on the inside & the barmen look like pirates - huge selection of different flavoured rums.

Dear Paddy,
May I take the opportunity, not to question your wine bar & pub list which actually sounds very good to my french ears and thus does not suffer any objection, but to make a slight correction to the bar called "le fil au char". This should be spelled "Le Filochard". Filochard being the name of one of the three main characters of the "Pieds Nickelés", a french cartoon book created almost 100 years ago by Louis Forton (the three merry characters developping typically french old stereotypes: scamp but crafty and resourceful, and...drink-loving). That is probably why this popular bar is named like that.
Hoping this contribution will help all the Irish friends to easily find their way to this nice bar.
Cheers,
Nico.
